Laboratorio Distilita - Grazhdanskaya Street 13-15

The place, the name of which if translated from Esperanto means the 'laboratory of distillates', offers to its visitors distillate (samogon) of their own production made at a historical Estonian factory which is located 100 km away from Tallinn. Besides, the team collects rare strong spirits and brings it to the city. You will easily find a tasty and delicate snack to accompany your drink. The interior creates an atmosphere of an alchemic laboratory. Cast-iron columns, an exquisite ceiling and ceramic tiles on the floor. The bar counter looks like a lecturing desk with a cabinet decorated with a Latin aphorism 'Аurum nostrum non est aurum vulgi' meaning 'Our gold is not the one that you make your coins of'. Some furniture pieces are custom made after designer sketches (for instance, an impressive mirror table) and the other ones were brought here from flea markets and antique shops (for example, a medicine cabinet that is transformed into a show-case, an antique wash-stand, a collection of chairs and armchairs among which there is the main rarity: two Wassily chairs made by the Bauhaus designer Marcel Lajos Breuer in the middle of the 1920s and named after Wassily Kandinsky. In the center of the hall there is a 19th century black piano being played in the evenings.

Xander Bar - Voznesensky Prospect, 1

A cozy bar with a real two-sided fireplace located on the first floor of the Four Seasons Hotel Lion Palace, the famous House with Lions. A constantly updated menu of cocktails, the widest choice of champagne in glasses, chefs of the Matteo Guida hotel, live jazz music on Thursdays, DJ performances on Fridays and Saturdays, and many more reasons to spend your evening at Xander.

Co-op Garage - Gorokhovaya 47

A pleasant imitation of a Brooklyn courtyard accompanied by an enthusiastic approach to pizzas, breakfasts until evening, a good choice of alcohol and a pool table. As such, there are no parties as people come here to have something to eat and actually just to relax. The atmospheric well courtyard has already become an absolute instagram-hit: there is not a single corner left without having been photographed by local microbloggers. The photo descriptions though are not as much creative as the selfie-aerobics: almost each has such words as 'the place of power', 'New York', 'Berlin' or 'Amsterdam'.

AF Brew Taproom - Kurlyandskaya street, 48

The AF Brew (Redrum, Camorra) team has launched its own brewery in one of the operating departments of the closed Stepan Razin plant located on the Obvodny Canal. The brewery here was founded by an English manufacturer Noi Kazalet In 1790 and in the middle of the 19th century the enterprise was significantly expanded after the consolidation of the Kazalet company with its main competitor, the plant of Abraham Kron, another St. Petersburg brewer. In the bar you can see several historical stages of the plant's existence. 200-year-old Gothic vaults and supporting metal columns were uncovered but also one can see some white tiles which were very typical for Soviet public catering establishments. And under the ceiling — in contrast — they added some frescoes stylised to resemble paintings by Bosch.
Khroniki - Nekrasova street, 26
The center of attraction of St. Petersburg intellectuals. Large selection of strong alcohol, distillates from around the world, local craft beer and cider, Baltic sprat, herring and waffles. The owners, who often work there as bartenders, were inspired, first of all, by the best classic Leningrad and northern Ingermanland bars, and they have definitely succeeded.

812 - Jukovskogo street, 11

One of the most successful and famous projects, a cocktail bar with the telephone code of St. Petersburg used as its name. The bar opened in 2008 and since then has gained its loyal audience thanks to author's cocktails and musical surprises from a variety of secular characters who are all trying their hand in being DJs.

8 Bar - Lenina street, 8

Have a glass of fundamentally good wine with simple but nice snacks in the rotunda of an apartment building at the Petrograd side. A tiny and inexplicably lovely place that has a specific Petersburg atmosphere. Just impossible to get in at prime time.

The Red Corner Pub – Nekrasova Street 6

A magnificent bar with Baltic cuisine. Along the side facades there are bay windows which are opened wide when it is warm serving as a summer terrace. There is a round oak bar counter under the vintage crystal chandelier, carefully preserved stucco molding on the ceiling, and a bronze sculpture of an eagle, gained from friends who paint, that is proudly surmounting a beer show-case. Guests occupy the panoramic windows at the tables made of forged parts of Zinger sewing machines, the welcoming and soft leather couches or just keep closer to the bar. It is difficult to say what in the project appeared first — the cuisine or the drinks, but the fact is that they complement each other both ideologically and gastronomically.
