The St. Isaac`s Cathedral - Isaakievskaya square, 4

St. Isaac's Cathedral is the largest Orthodox church in St. Petersburg today and one of the highest domed buildings in the world. The construction of the cathedral lasted 40 years and required an enormous amount of effort. However, the result exceeded all expectations. During the construction, 43 mineral rocks were used. That`s why St. Isaac's Cathedral is sometimes called the museum of colored stone. Karl Bryullov, and Vasily Shebuev, Fyodor Bruni, Ivan Vitali and many other famous artists and sculptors worked on the interior of the church. The museum status was granted to the temple in 1948. Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood - Griboedov Canal embankment, 2B

The Savior on Spilled Blood in St. Petersburg is a memorial church erected in memory of the tragic death of Emperor Alexander II. The cathedral stands above the place, where the Emperor was mortally wounded by the revolutionaries. Although the temple commemorated the tragic event in the history of Russia, the nine-domed building impresses with its bright, colorful beauty. On the background of the strict architecture of the northern capital, it seems to be a toy. There is a similarity between the cathedral and St. Basil's Cathedral in Moscow.

Directions: Metro station "Nevsky Prospect"

Working hours: Everyday from 10:30 to 18:00; Wednesday - day off.

Ticket price: 250 RUB
